Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around town this week.

1. Community Input Session Planned

The Moon Area School Board facilities committee will hold a community input session at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 in the high school cafeteria. Led by Rob Pillar of Stantec Architecture, the session will include a brief overview and recap presentation summarizing the options regarding the future of the district's elementary program and underutilized district spaces.

2. Moon Supervisors to Meet

The Moon Township Board of Supervisors will have a workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the township administration building. 

3. Open House at Montour School District

The Montour School District welcomes its parents to attend open house this week. On Monday, Sept. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Forest Grove pupils in kindergarten to second grade, and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. David E. Williams students in seventh to eighth grades. On Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. Burkett students in third and fourth grades, and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. high school students in ninth to 12th grades. On Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. David E. Williams students in fifth and sixth grades.  Students will be dismissed one hour early each day. 

4. Biz Blast @ Noon

The Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and non-members to register for one of its signature networking events, "BizBlast @ Noon." This networking lunch on Thursday, Sept. 26 helps businesspeople connect and make leads.

Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of business cards to hand out while they meet and mingle with fellow regional business leaders over a delicious lunch.  For extra exposure, contact Michelle Kreutzer at 412-264-6270. To register visit www.paacc.com or call 412-264-6270. 5. Moon Area Marching Band Hosts Competition 

The Moon Area High School Marching Band will host their 2nd Annual PIMBA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association) Competition at Tiger Stadium at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Awards Ceremony begins at 9 p.m. Competing bands include Blackhawk, East Allegheny, Fox Chapel, Lechburg, McGuffey, Penn-Trafford, Rochester, Serra, and Southmoreland. Moon Area will also perform. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.
