Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. The Express

The Express will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 12 as part of Family Fun Nights at Moon Park. Sponsored by Moon Parks and Recreation.

2. Creative Collage I "Oceanic Adventures" Art Workshop

Join Cafe Trello on Thursday, July 11 for an evening of fun and creativity with artist D. Zoe Shutka. Handmade paper with different textures and colors, metallic paints and undersea life stencils will all be combined in a fun collage process to create unique artworks with an ocean theme. Create your own canvas, sip wine punch, and sample Trello Cioccolato. Click here to learn more.

3. The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles

Go back to the glory days of the Fab Four Wednesday, July 10 as the Pennsylvania Humanities Council brings celebrated Beatles scholar Kenneth Womack to Moon Library  for a lively and vivid multimedia presentation that will showcase the life, music and celebrity of the Beatles.  

Womack traces the group's creative arc from their salad days in Liverpool, to the mean streets of Hamburg, through Abbey Road, to the twilight of their career.  He'll teach all about the inspirations behind well-known Beatles classics, their songwriting and recording practices, and show you why the group is still so popular and respected today. All ages are welcome.

4. Chamber of Commerce holds 'Summer Gala'

The Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce will host its "Summer Gala"from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at the historic Roselea Farm in Moon. The gala A highlight among the organization's summer business networking events, the gala includes live music by Azucar, salsa dancing, a foodie feast prepared by Buca di Beppo, Savory Hill, Wooden Angel and other participating restaurants. Tickets are $75.

5. Books Come Alive at Robinson Library

"Dog in Boots" will come to life at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at the Robinson Township Library courtesy of Stage Right! School For Performing Arts. The performance is enhanced with costumes, props and music and engaging for children 3-11 years and their parents. No registration is required.
