5 Things to Know this Week: Yoga, Festivals and 5K Runs

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Heitz of Heaven 5K Run/Walk

The Heitz 61 Memorial Foundation is sponsoring a 5K Run starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the RMU Island Sports Center, 7600 Grand Ave. Packet pick up is Friday and Saturday.

The foundation was created through the eyes of Ryan V. Heitzenrater, who was a healthy, active 13-year-old before falling ill in January with an unidentified viral infection. Ryan was admitted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where he spent the final 46 days of his life. The foundation works to help others within the community by promoting higher education and encouraging the physical well-being and teamwork of young people involved in sports.
