Allegheny County is hosting a flag retirement and remembrance ceremony in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The free event takes place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Park Flag Retirement Plaza.

An exhibit recognizing the Tuskegee Airmen will be unveiled Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The memorial dedication is planned for Sunday in the Sewickley Cemetery.

The Moon Township Public Library is holding its annual book sale at the township administration office. Preview night is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. The Allegheny County Airport Authority will hold an auction of abandoned vehicles at Pittsburgh International Airport on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. in the Airport Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road in Moon. There will be a $150 buyers premium on each vehicle. Vehicles will need to be towed from the auction site unless purchased by a dealer with appropriate plates.
