5 Things to Know This Week: Moon Homecoming, Day of Giving, Brush Pick Up

1. Moon Area Home Coming Week

This week is Homecoming Week at Moon Area High School. The homecoming queen will be announced during halftime at Friday night’s game against Central Valley. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.

2. Curbside Brush Pick Up Begins

Moon Township Public Works will begin curbside brush pick up Tuesday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Nov. 1. The Monday through Friday schedule will follow the regular garbage collection. Simply place brush at the curb by 7 a.m. on pickup day. Brush should not exceed 6 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter and it should not be bundled or tied. Leaves are not accepted for pickup during this time.

3. Day of Giving

The Pittsburgh Foundation's Day of Giving is Thursday, Oct. 3. Any donation of $25 or more given that day at www.pittsburghgives.org can be delineated to the non-profit of your choice to receive a partial match.

4. Hard to Recycle Collection Event

On Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Hard-to-Recycle Collection Event will take place at The Mall at Robinson parking lot near Sears. Some items will be accepted for free and others for a nominal fee. Sponsored by Zero Waste Pittsburgh, a project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council, Inc. Click here for the details of this recycling collection.

5. Kinder Krafts

Parents are invited to bring their children into the library any time between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday for a make and take craft. Crafts will be available downstairs in the craft room.
