5 Things to Know This Week: Jason Kendall, John Green and Lorax
Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around town this week.
1. Jason Kendall
A Lunch Time Concert will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Robin Hill Park in Moon. Jason Kendall will perform jazz for the crowd.
2. Happy Birthday, John Green
Join the Moon Township Public Library as it celebrates the birthday of the master of young adult literature, John Green. There will be cupcakes, trivia competition, John Green inspired crafts, and more. The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 in the Sky Room and is open to grades 6-12. 3. Family Fun Night: Lorax
Family Fun Nights continue at dusk on Friday, Aug. 23 with the showing of "Lorax." Bring the family and enjoy an evening outside in Moon Park.

4. New Student Orientation
Moon Area School District will host new student orientation Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for middle school students and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 for kindergarteners. All new students and their parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
5. Montour Open Swim
Montour students wanting to keep in shape for any sport are invited to swim at at the Montour Athletic Center Pool from 9 to 11 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until the beginning of the school year. Participants must be able to swim laps. Beginning on Monday, Aug. 26, open swims will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Parents are welcome to wait in the spectator area during open swim.
