Bayer Employee Receives Company Donation For Homeless Outreach Project

The employee will receive the grant for his church as part of the Robinson-based company's 150th anniversary.

A Bayer Corp. employee has been selected to receive a donation to support his church’s mission outreach programs to serve the homeless in Allegheny County and a church mission trip to West Virginia.

David Hanne, a nearly 30-year employee of Bayer, will receive a $2,600 grant for the Christian Assembly Church in Industry, PA.

The church regularly provides food, clothing and personal hygiene supplies to the homeless in Pittsburgh.  A group from the church also will travel to McDowell County in West Virginia for a one-week mission trip.

Hanne’s volunteerism was recognized during Bayer’s anniversary celebration at June 18 at the U.S. headquarters in Robinson.

To commemorate 150 years of Bayer, the Bayer Cares Foundation is supporting 150 current and retired Bayer employee volunteerism projects that will improve lives in Bayer communities around the world.

The foundation is contributing a total gift of $603,571 euros, equivalent to more than $750,000 for the 150 projects selected.  Eight current Bayer employees and one retiree have been selected.

Nearly 700 employees and retirees from more than 60 countries applied to the Bayer Cares Foundation for support for a project in which they volunteer their services as part of the 150th anniversary program “Being a Role Model Pays Off!”

Last year alone, approximately 1,800 Bayer employees volunteered nearly 19,000 hours to local volunteer programs in the United States, according to the company.
