Moon Township Public Library Kicks Off Summer Reading Program

The Moon Township Public Library held its kick off celebration on Saturday to usher in the summer reading season.

The Summer Reading Club extravaganza included a live broadcast from Radio Disney and life-sized Tinker Toys on the front lawn, courtesy of the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

Heather Panella, public services librarian, said the township library hosts a kick off every year as a way to celebrate the arrival of summer and the start of its summer reading program.

Saturday's kick-off event included activities for kids, games, prizes, food, crafts, face painting, and special appearances.

Everyone from adults and teens to young children were being registered to take part in the six-week library reading program and Questyinz, an online interactive game that let’s you log your reading minutes and explore “Quests” from pop culture to math and science.
