Update: Moon Students Kick off Summer Vacation

Eighth-graders bid the district's middle school farewell Monday.

Eighth-graders in the received a final farewell to middle school life yesterday with the district's first-ever "clap-off."

Students lined the middle school's halls Monday to applaud and cheer on eighth-grade students, who celebrated their final school day before high school at Moon Stadium. 

Monday marked the last day of school for students in the district.

The school district will open its renovated middle school building, which formerly served as the district's high school, at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. The current middle school is slated to be demolished next fall. 

"There are a lot of faculty members who are Moon graduates," said eighth-grade teacher Dianna Eberhardt. "It was emotional for us too because this is the last time we'll be in this building."
