Hello. I would like to express the extreme disappointment I have with the Sears Automotive in Robinson Twp Pa (Robinson Mall). I have purchased a great deal of tires and service from this location, but am seriously considering ANYONE else. I have always recommended this location to friends, family, neighbors. I am not sure if there has been a change in management at that location or a change in philosophy at Sears Automotive in general.
Backstory: (7/12) I purchased 4 Michelin tires for my vehicle and had them installed and Aligned at this location. The manager at the time sold me on a 3 year alignment plan and "of course rotations are free at any sears location as long as you purchase the tires from Sears" according to him.
I agreed with his sales pitch that "due to the cost of the higher end tires it would guarantee that I would get the most out of them." Great Idea!!
Fast forward to 11/25/13. I go into location to take advantage of previously purchased plan.
Sears Employee Darrell: "We are extremely backed up and it will be at least three hours, we have a lot of "appointments" ahead of you and its only fair that we honor them first"
ME: " Ok. True it would be unfair to take me, a walk in, ahead of appointments. Sounds good. Id like to make an appointment. Tomorrow 8 am?, Great I'll be here!"
The next morning....I show up ahead of my appointment time. I get checked in and an hour later after watching the "walk ins" get in ahead of me and the "walking dead" mechanics meander about flipping through the available work orders hand picking the ones they want, instead of the next one.
I understand that, in the service industry, things do not always go as planned. I've worked in it long enough. Who is in charge at this location! The mechanics hand picking their work is a great deal for them. Any mechanics in the area looking for a job, this is the place make, your own hours and hand pick your jobs. NICE!
After an hour of watching this cartoon and not a move being made toward my vehicle I asked for my key back. The gentleman was kind enough to go and retrieve it from the work order package on top and just hand it to me. He didn't seemed surprised in the least, which tells me that this is just the "practice". Evidently, the "screw em" we already cashed that check philosophy is in effect at this location, or maybe Sears has just adopted this policy. I am going to attempt to try this again. I feel that I already paid for it so I at least have to try. But, I am not going to be eager to recommend this location and I'll take my vehicleS to a locally owned Michelin dealer who will have the same Manager when I come back for service. DO NOT waste your money on any preventative service at this location. Good Luck to them. It seems like they are going to need it.
