Tiger Pride: Moon Schools Takes a Look at Community Banners

The Moon Area School Board also approves wrestling team changes.

The Moon Area School Board approved a cooperative agreement between the Moon and Quaker Valley wrestling programs.

The agreement, which spans from the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons, will enable the wrestling teams to work alongside one another.

Moon's program will remain in operation at no additional cost to the district through the measure.

The cooperative agreement is dependent upon approval from the Quaker Valley School Board.

The board also discussed replacing two-dozen "Tiger Pride" banners that now hang from utility poles throughout the community.

Alan Bennett, district director of fiscal services, said the 24 banners, which are on display along Beaver Grade Road and University Boulevard, are now sun-faded and tattered.

The district first purchased the banners in 2006 as a part of a community outreach effort, he said.

The board will vote on replacing the banners at its October meeting. Replacing all 24 will cost the district $4,271.

Bennett said the district hung the banners as a part of a public relations campaign.

"If we're going to (display the banners) we should do it in fine fashion," Bennett said. "And if we don't want to spend the money, then we should at least take them down."
