Storm Front Cancels Classes at Montour, Moon Area

Montour and Moon Area schools cancel classes as Hurricane Sandy pushes its way toward Pittsburgh.

The Moon Area School District has joined the Montour School District in cancelling school on Tuesday due to the Hurricane Sandy storm moving in from the East Coast.

All Tuesday classes and Monday-evening events in the districts have been cancelled "due to possible power outages and the difficulty or inability to communicate with our school community," according to an announcement from district officials.

The Moon Area School District still plans to go forward with its board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, said district spokeswoman Megan Edwards.
