School Board Approves Change Orders, New Management Contractor
The Moon Area School Board also OK'd equipment supply purchases at its meeting last night.
The approved nearly $40,000 in change orders last night for the district's middle school renovation and new high school construction.
The board approved a high school change order at an increased construction cost of $34,287.32 and a $4,556.19 change order for the ongoing middle school renovation.
The board also awarded a contract to the Pittsburgh-based Global Management Solutions, a contract facility services firm, to provide "operational management support services" for the district at a one-year cost of $73,060.

The firm will provide a contracted professional to act as an assistant director of operations and security systems to work under current Director of Operations James Heck.
"[The contract services] will provide a cost savings," said Alan Bennett, director of fiscal and school services for the district.

The board voted to re-appoint board member Nicholas Pollack as board treasurer through June 30, 2012.
The board accepted a bid to replace a cooling tower at Brookes Elementary at a cost of $39,980.
The board awarded a bid for the district's 2011-2012 paper supply at a cost of $42,422.
The board purchased science supplies from various vendors for the upcoming school year at a cost of $16,187.
The board approved the purchase of industrial art supplies from various vendors at a cost of $7,676.
The board awarded bids for maintenance and custodial supplies to various vendors at a cost of $57,265.
The board purchased carpet cleaning equipment at a cost of $13,871 from Pitt Chemical and Sanitary Supply Company.
