Moon School Board Plans to Appoint Acting Superintendent

The vote will take place at the next school board meeting.

The Moon Area School Board is looking to have one of its own serve as acting superintendent during the search for a new superintendent.

The school board intends to appoint Maureen Ungarean, principal of Bon Meade Elementary, at the June 10 school board meeting to replace Superintendent Donna Milanovich, who is retiring, according to an announcement from the district.

A Moon Township resident, Ungarean has been the principal at Bon Meade since 2010. She studied at Allegheny College, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.

Ungarean also has previous experience as an acting superintendent, as well as a high school principal, federal programs coordinator and curriculum director from other school districts.

If Ungarean continues to serve as acting superintendent through the start of the next school year, district officials said the board will address the principal's position at Bon Meade later this summer.
