Moon Area School District Reaches Deal With Administrative Staff

The board also approved change orders for the middle school renovation project.

President Mark Scappe said last night that the district has reached a contract agreement with its administrative staff that includes no pay raises. 

"At this point, everyone in the district has a pay freeze. We hope for no more stoppage of work now, "said Scappe.  

He said the new five-year agreement was reached Monday.

  • The board approved the purchase of a block of real estate on Beaver Grade Road at block/lot 698-M-69 pending the execution of a written sales agreement. 
  • The board awarded a contract for architectural and construction management services to J.C. Pierce, L.L.C. at a cost not to exceed $15,000. The firm will take part in the design and construction of athletic fields. 
  • The board approved change orders for the new middle school renovation project at an increased cost of $35,331.51. The board also approved change orders related to the project at a decreased cost of $81,030. 
  • The board awarded a bid for the field house drainage project to Maraini & Richards Inc. at the bid price of $58,800. The cost of the project will be charged to the district's capital reserve fund. 
  • The board accepted a Watt Fencing Inc. proposal to install additional fencing at the Brooks Elementary School ball field at a cost of $3,970 from the district's capital reserve fund.
