Moon School Board Awards Bids, Approves Change Orders

District to receive credits from revised change orders in a renovation project.

The Moon Area School Board awarded bids and approved other administrative items at its meeting Monday night.

Those actions included:

  • The board approved two decreases in change orders related to the renovation of the old Moon Area High School building. A change order of $28,836.49 and a change order of $2,947.31 will be credited to the school district from contractors. 
  • The board awarded $8,931.86 in bids for art supplies in the district.
  • The board awarded $4,486.09 in bids for various middle school science supplies. 
  • The board awarded $6,753 in bids for in athletic training supplies in the district. 
  • The board approved a trip for the high school band and orchestra to Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio on June 22. 
  • Board President Mark Scappe discussed adding a line item to next year's budget to include funding for the high school's drama club. He said the district's new high school auditorium will call for more elaborate productions and expand the district's arts programs, requiring more funding. He also proposed awarding the club $1,500 to help with costs of this year's spring musical, Cinderella.
