Moon Area Meets 'Adequate Yearly Progress' on PSSAs

Students at each of the district's seven building's achieve the benchmark.

The announced that students in each of its seven buildings met adequate yearly progress on the Pennsylvania State Assessment Tests for the 2010-2011 school year. 

Adequate yearly progress marks the minimum target level of improvement that school districts much reach on the assessments. Factors including graduation, participation and attendance rates also factor into the results. 

The tests are given annually to students in grades three through eight and grade 11, measuring student progress in reading, mathematics, science and writing.

The district said in a statement that it would continue using similar strategies to prepare students for this year's PSSAs. 

"Congratulations to Moon Area students and staff for their continued success on the PSSA tests," said Moon Area Superintendent Donna Milanovich in a statement.
