Champs Sports Network will sponsor a post-game fireworks show Friday at the Youthtowne sports complex in Clinton, following the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Sto-Rox baseball game.
While there is no way to be sure, the show is said to be the first of its kind for WPIAL high school baseball. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic high school in Moon Township.
"We are excited, the kids are excited, it should be a great event and something that goes well beyond the norm for a high school baseball game," Champs President Matt Farago said.
The Chargers (11-2), ranked No.1 in Champs "Class-A" power rankings since the start of the season, could be going for a perfect section record against a struggling Sto-Rox squad. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
Champs Sports Network is a local Internet-based broadcast network that covers the WPIAL, college and professional sports. VFI Fireworks of Charleroi will prouduce the 10-to-15-minute fireworks display.
Youthtowne is part of the Maronda Foundation, operated by Maronda Homes. The baseball field also houses a state-of-the-art video board, sound system and press box that makes for a feel similar to that of a minor league game.
"This is just one way we want to do something great for the community, while at the same time making more people aware of who we are and what we are doing." Farago said.
The game is free and open to the public.
