Former Ambassador, Fortune 500 CEO to Speak at RMU Commencement

The university's graduate school commencement will be May 6 and the undergraduate commencement will be May 7.

A former U.S. ambassador and the chief executive officer of a Pittsburgh company will address graduates at commencement ceremonies next month.

Former U.S. ambassador to Nigeria Robin Renee Sanders will speak at the university's graduate commencement ceremony at 4 p.m. May 6, and Richard Harshman, president and CEO of Allegheny Technologies, will speak at the undergraduate ceremony at 9:30 a.m. May 7 in the Sewall Center Arena on the RMU campus.

Former President George W. Bush appointed Sanders ambassador to Nigeria in 2007. In 2010, she earned a doctorate in information systems and communications from RMU.

Harshman, a 1978 RMU graduate, earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and is a member of the RMU board of trustees. He was appointed to his position with the specialty metal producer in August.
