Cornell Hires RMU Alum as Superintendent

Aaron Thomas will replace Donna Belas as superintendent.

The Cornell School Board has hired Aaron Thomas as the district's latest superintendent. 

The board appointed Thomas on March 21. His tenure as superintendent for the district will begin on July 1, said school board member Robert Dinell. 

Thomas has served as a high school principal at Cornell since 2009, where he previously worked as a high school teacher.

Thomas replaces current Superintendent Donna Belas, who retires after 41 years of service in the district in July. 

Thomas earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education, social students, from Robert Morris University, where he also earned his master's degree. He is now completing doctoral work at the University of Pittsburgh.

He resides in North Fayette with his wife Casey and two sons.
