Bishop Canevin Hires Coraopolis Man as Varsity Coach

Bishop Canevin has hired Darren Schoppe, a 1991 graduate at the Catholic school, as its new varsity football coach.

Bishop Canevin High School has hired a new varsity football coach.

Darren Schoppe, of Coraopolis, is a 1991 graduate and was an assistant coach at Bishop Canevin from 1993 to 2005.

He is also a former defensive coordinator at South Fayette and also was an assistant coach for Peters Township.

“It was important for us to find a coach who would be passionate about Crusader football and about developing our young men as individuals, student, and athletes and I feel that Coach Schoppe is that person,” Principal Karen Walker said in a press release. “We all look forward to continued great success for our team both on and off the field under his leadership."

Schoppe replaces Bob Jacoby, who retired in Jauary after being a part of the Bishop Canevin football program for more than 45 years.

Schoppe is the owner of Builder Direct Construction in Pittsburgh.
