So How Much Snow Have We Gotten?

Take a look back at Moon's 2010 weather

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas out there.

These are the most recent stats from our friends over at the National Weather Service located here in Moon. They measure temperature and precipitation at Pittsburgh International Airport and compile data for the region as a whole. And of course, we're just a little more than halfway through December, so these statistics are subject to change.

  • November 2010 was the fifth wettest November on record in the  Pittsburgh region -- The National Weather Service measured 5.97 inches of rain at the airport. But November 1985 has the distinguished honor of being the rainiest on record for the area: 11.05 inches were measured.
  • August 17 and Sept. 6 are tied for the warmest days of the year at a balmy 93 degrees.
  • But on Feb. 5,  thermometers sunk to just 0 degrees, making it the chilliest day of Pittsburgh's 2010.
  • So far, 8.7 inches of snow and ice have fallen this month; 10.8 inches fell during all of December 2009.
  • Average temperature this month: 26.9 degrees.
