Sen. Pippy Won't Seek Re-Election

The Moon Republican was elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in 2003.

State , R-37th District, announced today he would not seek re-election.

Pippy's office this afternoon released a statement on his retirement: 

"I am announcing today that I will not seek re-election to the Senate of Pennsylvania in 2012. Since 1997, I have had the pleasure of serving and working alongside the constituents of the 37th Senatorial District and 44th Legislative District. Over the years, I have met many wonderful and dedicated people in the public and private sectors, and am grateful for the support and encouragement of so many. It has been truly an honor and privilege to serve the people of Pennsylvania and I will be forever grateful for that opportunity."

Pippy, 41, of Moon, was elected to the state Senate in a 2003 special election, filling the seat vacated after Rep. Tim Murphy was elected to Congress. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, and a veteran of the Iraq War. 

Pippy is the chairman of the Senate Law and Justice Committee. He served in the state House for six years prior to being elected to the state Senate.
