PennDOT Cancels Weekend Sewickley Bridge Work

Local officials worried the construction would impact the upcoming Harvest Festival.

PennDOT has postponed plans to work on the  over the weekend, according to a notification from the borough.

A project meeting today between PennDOT and Lindy Paving to discuss the weekend work on Route 65 led to the decision, the borough announced a short time ago. 

"To avoid conflict with the , we have decided to cancel the concrete approach work at the Sewickley Bridge until another available weekend," PennDOT said.

Milling, asphalt paving and concrete patching on Route 65 will still occur nightly for the remainder of the week and on Saturday and Sunday during the day and night through 6 a.m. Monday.

Lindy Paving, however, has agreed to remove lane closures between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday during the festival, the borough said.

said he received notice last Friday of PennDOT's plans to begin work this weekend on Route 65 from the , and to repair the bridge beginning Friday night.

Overnight work on Route 65 has been ongoing this week during the hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., which requires one-lane traffic in both directions.

PennDOT also planned to repair the apron, the approach to the bridge leading from 65. The bridge is now under  with.

Borough officials worried that with  planned for Saturday, Sept. 8, bridge work could impact the all-day festitivites.
