Moon Begins 2013 Road Improvement Program

More than a dozen roads are on this year's improvement list.

Moon Township’s 2013 road improvement program is underway after being delayed due to weather and the rebuilding of the North Flaugherty Run Bridge.

Moon Supervisors awarded the road paving contract to Youngblood Paving in April on a total bid basis of $974,457.49.

Township Engineer Malcolm Petroccia said the public works department does the preparatory work, including manholes and inlet adjustments, to prepare roads for paving.

The improvements also include the Downs Fire Station, Boggs Run Fire Station and the Public Safety building parking lots.  Work will begin once the fuel tank and gas pump work is complete.

Seal coating also will be applied to Betsinger Road and Jackson Road.

Residents will be notified before paving starts by Swift Reach or through a notice from the paving company.
