Interstate 376 Construction Almost Completed

PennDOT: Work will continue through February

Drivers on Interstate 376 through Moon will contend with roadway construction until February, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

But work on the project, which has caused occasional backups on the highway, has moved into its final phases. PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi said the $7.6 million project will wrap up on February 11 unless weather conditions or snow sets it back. Major construction on the thoroughfare ended earlier this month.

PennDOT crews will work from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and drivers now can expect only "short-term intermittent restrictions" and occasional construction overnight.  There will be no construction on Christmas Day.

Struzzi said the project is on track to be finished by its February deadline, but inclement weather and heavy snowfall could set back the work.

"Of course the weather can cause delays, but they are mostly doing minor work at this point," Struzzi said.

The project, which spans a 3.77-mile stretch of the 376 Business Loop in Moon, includes matching concrete pavement, milling and resurfacing, improving drainage, and repairing guide rails, curbs and shoulders.
