Coraopolis Man Arrested in Penitentiary Probe

Investigators arrest a guard at SCI Pittsburgh on dozens of sexual and physical assault charges involving inmates at the North Side prison.

A Coraopolis man is accused of sexually assaulting prisoners at the State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh where he worked as a prison guard.

Harry Nicoletti, 59, of School Street in Coraopolis, has been charged in the sexual and physical assault of more than 20 inmates at the North Side facility.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office said Nicoletti was taken into custody this morning and will be arraigned today in Pittsburgh Municipal Court.

He is accused of multiple counts of institutional sexual assault, official oppression, indecent exposure, making terroristic threats, simple assault and bringing contraband into the prison.

According to the complaint, Nicoletti threatened inmates and forced himself sexually on them.

District attorney spokesman Mike Manko said further arrests may be forthcoming in connection to the incidents.
