Assistant Township Manager Announces Departure

Adam McGurk, Moon Township's assistant manager and planning director, will leave his position at the end of the month. 

McGurk, who has worked for the township since 2007, said at last night's Moon Board of Supervisors meeting that he would be moving to New York City with his wife, whose job has been relocated. He has not accepted another position. His last day of work with the township will be April 29. 

"This just kind of fell into our lap, but I've really appreciated the chance to work for the township," McGurk said. "I certainly wasn't looking for another position."

Board Chairman Jim Vitale said McGurk was "moving on to bigger and better things."

"He has grown into a true professional here, and he will be missed," Vitale said. 

Other items from the meeting: 

Supervisor Frank Sinatra said the board was working with outside legal council to adjust its drilling ordinances to accommodate Marcellus Shale drilling companies, though he did not offer specifics on what aspects of the current ordinances would change. 

The board also voted to approve the purchase of a new Telex wireless headset intercom system for MCA-TV at a cost of $15,549. The board  also is accepting bids on a new production trailer for the public access channel. 

The board approved $21,830 in change orders to a project to install sidewalks along the north side of Cedar Drive. An additional $33,870 in grant money also will be used to fund the project.
