A motorist had to be rescued from her vehicle Wednesday morning after becoming trapped by rising floodwaters.
Robinson Police Chief Dale Vietmeier said the woman was driving on Campbells Run Road around 7:30 a.m. when the water quickly rushed her vehicle.
Vietmeier said the water reached about 4 feet high so the woman climbed onto the roof of her car to escape.
"The creek overflowed so quickly and there's a valley down there, so the water gets really high down there when it overflows," Vietmeier said. "She drove into it and then she got stuck in it."
Fortunately, he said Water Authority workers are nearby and used a backhoe to retrieve her from the car.
"They put her in the bucket of the backhoe and got her out of there."
The road is closed where the car was flooded but the upper part of Campbell's Run Road remains open.
