Woman Charged in Moon Hotel Fraud Waives Hearing

A Beaver County woman is accused of attempting to deceive hotel employees out of giving her cash refunds.

An Aliquippa woman who police said attempted to trick hotel employees into giving her cash refunds has waived her right to a preliminary hearing. 

Police said Sharon Lepore, 40, told hotel employees at the  earlier that she was overcharged for her stay at the hotel and a manager promised her a $124 refund.

Hotel staff issued her the cash refund, though it was later found they had no record of her renting a room.

Police received a similar complaint from the  hotel on Cherrington Parkway.

Police said a woman later identified as Lepore approached the hotel's front desk and asked for a cash refund. Staff at the Marriott did not issue the refund, but they did make a copy of her driver's license.

Lepore waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Coraopolis District Court on Tuesday. She faces a formal arraignment on Oct. 12.
