'Winter Carnival' Raises Money for Moon Firefighters

Organizers say the fourth annual event is aimed at families.

Community members gathered Saturday at the Moon Public Safety Building to celebrate the Christmas season and raise money for township first responders. 

The hosted its fourth annual Winter Carnival for Moon area families, complete with games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus. 

The ladies auxiliary also takes part in the township fire company's annual Lenten and and Moon Park : The winter fete is a relatively new event for the organization.

Cheryl Samuels, who heads the organization, said the Christmas event has steadily grown in popularity each year. 

Children were able to dabble in crafts, play the "ornament toss" or snap a photo alongside Santa Claus. Funds raised at the event benefit the township's volunteer fire department.

"It's important because it enables us to help purchase equipment for our firefighters," said Samuels of the event.
