Moon police recently handled several thefts involving vehicles in the township, including a report of tires stripped from a new vehicle.
Police said someone stole all four wheels and tires from an unregistered 2014 Volkswagen Jetta parked on the Target Auto Sales lot at 5252 University Boulevard.
A service manager at Day Apollo Inc., which owns the lot, called police at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 to report the thefts after workers moving vehicles noticed the wheels and tires missing from the gray, four-door car.
Police said the vehicle was just placed on the lot Aug. 17. The wheels are worth $425 each and the tires are valued at $150 each, police said.
Police also received reports from residents of overnight thefts from vehicles. Police said $452 was stolen sometime overnight Monday, Aug. 19 from a vehicle on Hunters Run Drive. The victim had just received the money as a payment and had it stored in the center console. The vehicle was left unlocked, police said.
Someone also went into an unlocked vehicle overnight Tuesday, Aug. 20 and took a woman’s red Coach wallet containing $7, a driver’s license and credit cards.
A third vehicle was also broken into overnight Aug. 20 in the 2700 block of Beaver Grade Road where someone took $10 in change from the car.
