Two Men Face Charges for Thefts in Moon Township

Police investigation turns up suspects in theft of two dirt bikes—and one of them also faces charges in the theft of a golf cart from Scally's Golf Center's owner.

Two men are facing charges in connection with the theft of dirt bikes—and one of them also faces charges for taking a golf cart from Scally's Golf Center.

Jacob Tigner, 18, of Oakdale will appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Mary P. Murray at 9:30 a.m. April 30 to face charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, and loitering and prowling at nighttime filed by Moon Township police.

According to a police report, Tigner is accused of stealing a golf cart from the McCormick Road home of the owner of Scally's Golf Center sometimes March 29 or 30. A resident called police on April 4 after finding the stolen golf cart on the former Nike site property in Moon.

During an investigation into the stolen golf cart, police discovered that Tigner might also be involved in the theft of two dirt bikes from a shed on Nike Road. A resident reported the two bikes were stolen from a shed between April 1 and 8.

Police confronted Tigner at his residence and, according to the police report, he admitted to stealing the golf cart.Though initially he denied having any involvement in the theft, Tigner eventually returned the dirt bikes to the police station

For the theft of the bikes, Tigner faces two counts each of criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at nighttime and criminal conspiracy. The hearing on those charges is also scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 30.

A second man, Michael Steven Sossong, 18, of Oakdale faces charges of theft by unlawful taking receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy in connection with the theft of the dirt bikes. Information on his hearing date was not immediately available.
