Robinson Township Vehicle Crash Sends Car into Montour Run

Police said the driver suffered injuries.

A Crafton man was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday night after a two-vehicle crash sent his car plunging into Montour Run.

Robinson Police said Eric Heinold, 35, was badly injured and trapped in his 2009 Hyundai Accent at 6:37 p.m. when authorities arrived to the accident off Montour Run Road, near the Western Area YMCA

According to police, Heinold was distracted and looking for his cell phone when his car collided with a 2014 Jeep Compass driven by Tonya Rice, 36, of Aliquippa.

Police said Rice was stopped and waiting to turn into the YMCA parking lot. The impact sent Heinold's car off the roadway and into the water.

Emergency crews got into the water to help rescue him. The car was towed from the water and he was taken to Allegheny General Hospital.
