Robinson Township Country Club Chef Accused of Molesting Boy

A Scott Township man and chef at an exclusive country club is being accused of molesting a young boy over several years.

A Scott Township man and chef at an exclusive country club in Robinson Township is being accused of molesting a young boy over several years.

Scott Township police arrested Garry Burgess, 44, last week and charged him with felony charges of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful contact with a minor.

Investigators said the molestation began about five years ago when the boy was in second grade. The boy told investigators that the sexual abuse occurred five to seven times at Burgess’ Glendale home until he was 10 years old.

Police said the abuse stopped after Burgess bought the boy an XBOX game system and then demanded he be allowed to perform sex acts on the boy. When the boy refused to allow it again, police said Burgess threatened to take the gaming system away, but never did.

Investigators said they were notified of the alleged sex abuse on Feb. 26 by Children Youth and Family.

Multiple media reports indicated that Burgess worked as a chef at the Chartiers Country Club in Robinson Township, located on Baldwin Road, though police said none of the alleged incidents occurred at the club.

He is currently free on $50,000 bond.
