Pregnant Robinson Shoplifter Goes Into Labor at Allegheny County Jail

Robinson Township handle several retail theft cases.

Tara Marie Duffy, 35, of Mount Washington faces a charge of felony retail theft after she was accused of attempting to steal $230 in merchandise from the Kohl's Department Store on Steubenville Pike on April 26.

The store's loss prevention officer had Duffy in custody when Robinson police arrived at the scene. Duffy is accused of placing a pair of shoes into a baby stroller she was pushing and putting several clothing items in a diaper bag, which she placed on top of the shoes.

Because she had several prior convictions for retail theft, she was taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail. While at the jail, Duffy complained of stomach pains and cramps—and she went into labor.
