Police: Vandals Smash Mailboxes in Moon

Moon police responded to the following recent incidents.

Residents in several Moon neighborhoods recently discovered someone had destroyed their mailboxes during a vandalism spree, according to township police. 

Moon police received an initial report at 8:45 a.m. May 25 about a mailbox that was vandalized and knocked down overnight in the 2000 block of Farm View Drive.

Police later received two additional reports of mailboxes vandalized in the same block. 

On May 26, police said a Craig Court resident heard a loud noise at 1:20 a.m. and looked outside to see a neighbor's mailbox destroyed.

Police received additional vandalism reports in the 2600 block of Farm View Drive and the 1000 block of Estate Drive.  

Moon police also responded to the following recent incidents. Each reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Simple assault charged
Corinna Caceres, 37, of Lynfield Avenue, Moon, charged with simple assault. Police said Caceres was intoxicated May 24 when she struck a man in the face, causing an injury above his eye. Police said she admitted she hitting the person. She was taken to Allegheny County Jail.

Terroristic threats alleged
Franklyn Higgs, 40, of Juniper Drive, Moon, charged with simple assault and terroristic threats. Police said Higgs drank heavily at a party on May 25 before arguing with a woman over cigarettes. Police said he kicked in a wooden bedroom door when she tried to hide from him and threatened to kill her. He was taken to Allegheny County Jail.
