Police: Vandals Smash Car Windows Along Montour Trail

Moon Township Police said thieves broke into cars parked along the Montour Trail this month.

Moon Police said vandals smashed the windows of two vehicles parked along the Montour Trail.

Motorists returned from the trail to find their windows broken and items missing.

A man told police that on March 18 he returned to his car, parked near the Groveton Bridge, to find his car's window broken and his wallet and other items stolen. A woman, whose vehicle was parked along Route 51, reported that day that her driver's side window had been smashed, and her debit card and several gift cards were missing.

Moon Township Police responded to the following recent incidents and made the following arrests. Each item is a reflection of police records and does not indicate guilt.

  • Crystal Racquel Sampson, 26, of Pittsburgh, was charged with retail theft March 23 at Super Kmart on Market Place Boulevard.
  • William Lawrence Trondle, 50, of Moon Township, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance on March 21 following a two-vehicle crash on University Boulevard, near the West Hills Motor Nissan dealership.
