Nearby: Route 65 Reopens After Morning Crash

A driver is taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital following an early morning crash along Route 65.

Sewickley Police Chief Jim Ersher said slick roads likely lead to a one-vehicle crash early this morning on Southbound Route 65, causing back-ups for motorists traveling the route.

Ersher said one man was taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital following the crash. All lanes on the road have been reopened.

The man lost control of his vehicle at about 6:40 a.m., when it struck a utility pole and spun into the northbound lane, where it landed on its side.

Ersher said the man's name was not immediately available, but he was conscious and alert following the crash. No passengers were present in the vehicle.

Traffic was reduced to one alternating lane while the crash was cleared from the roadway. Duquesne Light will replace the pole later today, Ersher said.

"For the most part the roads have been cleared but there are still a lot of spots that are icy," Ersher said. "Allow yourself a little extra time while you're driving."
