A 26-year-old Pittsburgh man charged with burglarizing a McCandless home and stealing jewelry worth thousands of dollars waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner.

Brian James Flesher is charged with felony counts of burglary and theft for the Nov. 26 burglary at a Perrymont Road home. The residents returned home that afternoon to find their rear kitchen door kicked open, according to the criminal complaint.

They reported a jewelry box with $3,385 in jewelry was missing, police said.

Detectives from Ross Township, Franklin Park Borough and Ohio Township questioned Flesher about a string of burglaries that included crimes in their respective jurisdictions, Lt. Donald J. O'Connor of the McCandless Police Department wrote in the criminal complaint.

The daytime burglaries were similar to a Moon Township burglary with which Flesher was charged, the criminal complaint states.

Flesher was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after Moon Township police said he kicked down a door at a Shafer Road home and stole a jewelry box.  

Flesher confessed to burglaries in Ross and Ohio townships and the Borough of Franklin Park, the criminal complaint states.

He also confessed to taking jewelry from the Perrymont Road home, according to the complaint.

Flesher told detectives he sold the jewelry at Zeromax Gold LLC in Bellevue, court documents state.

His formal arraignments are scheduled for Jan. 30 in the Moon case and Feb. 20 for the McCandless case.

He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
