Moon Woman Charged with Embezzlement Forgoes Hearing

Nottingham Drive resident accused of stealing $1.4 million from her former employers.

A Moon woman charged with embezzling nearly  $1.4 million from her former employer has waived her preliminary hearing in the case. 

Marie Garda-Knoche, 37, of Nottingham Drive, was in March with stealing $1,383,955 from Allegheny Psychological Services and Allegheny Forensic Associates, where she was employed for 11 years. Her formal arraignment has not yet been scheduled. 

The district attorney's office said Garda-Knoche  wrote business checks to herself, used a company debit card for personal expenses, and gave herself bonuses and pay raises.  She was charged with 47 criminal counts, including theft by deception, forgery, receiving stolen property and identity theft.
