Moon Student Charged with Making Terroristic Threats
The student will remain in a juvenile detention facility until his June 7 hearing.
A Moon Area School District student has been charged with making terroristic threats and harassment, after saids in the district
The student, who is a minor, was removed from school May 10 after fellow students reported the threats to school administrators. The student underwent a psychiatric evaluation after the district suspended him.
Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge John T. McVay earlier this month ordered the student to remain at Shuman Juvenile Detention Center in Lincoln-Lemington until his June 7 hearing.

Police Chief Leo McCarthy said the student was an upperclassman in the district with no prior criminal history. He described the student and his parents as cooperative during an investigation, which included a police search of his home.
McCarthy declined to discuss the specific nature of the threats but said they included printed and electronic material.

The student also is charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and possessing instruments of crime, said McCarthy. The student had a pretrial conference Tuesday.
