Moon Resident Wrecks into Police Car, Charged with DUI

A Moon Township man is facing charges after nearly striking a police officer with his vehicle and crashing into a police car.

David Beck, 33, of Oak Drive, is charged with driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, and other summary offenses.

Police said officers were directing traffic at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, June 29 on Brodhead Road due to a disabled tractor-trailer. Police said Beck's sport utility vehicle nearly struck an officer, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. Beck's SUV continued moving and crashed into the rear end of the parked police cruiser.

Police said Beck wasn't wearing glasses, which is a restriction on his driver's license restriction, and his safety and emission stickers expired in February.

Police also reported a blood-alcohol level of 0.228 percent, above the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent. Beck was taken to Allegheny County Jail and released on bond.

DUI Charges

Michele Flanagan, 54, of Imperial, is charged with driving under the influence, driving while suspended and careless driving. Police stopped Flanagan's vehicle at midnight June 29 after seeing Flanagan's vehicle roll forward into another vehicle at the intersection of  University Boulevard and Brodhead Road. Flanagan's blood-alcohol test results were unavailable.

Michael Bufalini, 24, of Aliquippa, charged with driving under the influence and carrying a prohibited offensive weapon. Police stopped Bufalini's vehicle at 1:59 a.m. June 22 on University Boulevard near Port Vue Drive after his vehicle was paced going 45 to 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. Police found a knife with a retractable blade clipped to the inside of Bufalini's pants. The knife is a prohibited weapon, police said. Bualini's blood-alcohol test results were unavailable.
