Moon Police: Wanted Man Attempts to Purchase Firearm At Gander Mountain

Moon Township Police made the following recent arrests and responded to the following incidents. Each item is a reflection of police records and does not indicate guilt or a conviction. 

  • Chante Venise Hines, 36, of Aliquippa, was charged with retail theft on Dec. 5 at Super Kmart on Market Place Boulevard. Hines, who has eight prior convictions for retail theft, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail following the incident. 
  • Dennis Jay Phillips, 33, of Coraopolis, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, unsworn falsification to authorities, driving without a license, theft by unlawful taking, duty of driver to stop for an emergency vehicle, and reckless driving on Nov. 21. State Police alerted Moon Police that Phillips, who was wanted on simple assault charges, was attempting to purchase a firearm at Gander Mountain. Phillips fled the store when police arrived. 
  • Shannon Marie Rudy, 29, of Moon Township, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Dec. 9 at Sheetz. 
  • Robert Joseph Maruca, 47, of Moon Township, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a one-vehicle crash on Dec. 10 near Beer & Pop 4 Less on Grant Drive.
