Moon Police: Township Man Tased After Threatening Police

Moon officers subdued a township man with a Taser gun after a domestic dispute in his home, according to police.

Barry R. Buffington, 42, of Moon Township, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on the evening of Dec. 20 and charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and public drunkenness in connection to the altercation.

Police said Buffington threatened to fight Moon Police officers who were responding to a complaint of a fight between Buffington and a family member at the Brodhead Road home.

Buffington refused to comply with police orders, at one point clenching his fists and lunging toward officers in the home, according to a complaint filed by Moon Officer Jonathan Fry.

Buffington was Tased several times in the home before relenting, according to the complaint.

He is scheduled to face a preliminary hearing Jan. 8 in Coraopolis District Court.

In March, police charged Buffington with attempting to attack officers he was arrested for public drunkenness. He pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness in connection to the incident, according to court records.

Moon Police also responded to the following recent incidents and made the following recent arrests. Each item is a reflection of police records and does not indicate guilt or a conviction.

  • David Allen Lundy, 27, of Aliquippa, was charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of marijuana, prohibited acts on Dec. 19 in Moon.
  • Jesse Roger Rager, 24, of Aliquippa, was charged with prohibited acts on Dec. 20 on University Boulevard.
