Moon Police Garner AAA Safety Awards

The department earned honors for its traffic safety promotion.

The has earned AAA East Central's gold award for its community traffic safety efforts.

The department is recognized this month with more than 40 other Pennsylvania police agencies for roadway safety enforcement. The awards are given annually to community police departments that conduct traffic safety promotions and educate the public on safety topics.

The gold award is the second-greatest honor departments can earn in the program. Cranberry, Pittsburgh and Findlay were among the local departments who garnered the program's highest-ranking, platinum honors.

AAA Safety Adviser J.J. Miller said departments that earned the award "went above and beyond the call of duty," organizing community traffic safety projects.
