Moon Man Charged with Causing New Year's Eve Crash

Police say he stole his girlfriend's car after an argument.

A Moon Township man has been charged with stealing his girlfriend's car at a New Year's Eve party and crashing it into a yard on Oak Drive. 

Joshua Stephen Dacunzo, 28, was charged with theft, two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property at 3 a.m. Jan. 1. 

said Dacunzo took his girlfriend's car after an argument at a New Year's Eve party in the 200 block of Oak Drive. Dacunzo drove the car over a nearby sidewalk and into a gas meter owned by Columbia Gas, shearing the meter and damaging the front and rear ends of the car, according to a police report.

Dacunzo's girlfriend told police that he took her car without her permission. Police did not provide an estimate of the damage. 

Dacunzo walked away from the crash to his home on nearby Juniper Drive. Police said when they arrived on Oak Drive, neighbors and partygoers were outside on the lawn, staring at the wrecked car.

Dacunzo is schedule to appear Feb. 14 in Coraopolis District Court for a preliminary hearing.
