Montour Grad Killed in Shooting

A Hazelwood man as been charged with the former Montour student athlete's homicide.

Authorities have identified the man killed Monday in a Kennedy Township shooting as 2010 graduate Jordan Coyner.

Coyner, 20, was shot in the head during what police described as a botched drug robbery of the Kennedy home he shared with his parents, reports the Post-Gazette.

Coyner's parents were home at the time of the shooting, the newspaper reports.

22-year-old Devele Reid, of Hazelwood, was arrested today in Swissvale and charged with Coyner's homicide. Police said he and four juveniles attempted to steal marijuana from Coyner at the home.

The juveniles, who have not been identified, have been released from police custody.

Coyner was a member of Montour's football team. Click here for more on the story.

This story should be a wake-up for all parents. It doesn't matter where you live or how "good" your kid is. Drugs and peer pressure can lead any kid astray. Be vigilant, be observant, but most importantly, BE THERE for your kid. Because if you aren't, some scumbag will be!

I'm having trouble deciphering/accessing complete posts above. I have not been able to follow theRead More Boards meetings since relocating a year ago to TN. The fact that it took them til 3 am to ok WalMart's plans for the space, makes me think it was contentious, as it should have been. Many of us with experience of WalMart and the existing problems with traffic in the area remain appalled to hear WalMart's moving ahead.
