Man Thrown from Car in Coraopolis Heights Road Crash

A man was thrown 50 feet from his car after an early morning crash on Coraopolis Heights Road. 

Police said a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Daniel Sullivan, of Moon Township, skidded off the the road near the Montour Heights Country Club at about 2:30 p.m. March 2. 

Police found Sullivan's Toyota Tacoma flipped on its roof and Sullivan laying in the snow, more than 50 feet from the vehicle. 

The man was traveling southbound on Coraopolis Heights before he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed onto its roof and ejected him. 

Sullivan was concious and complaining of leg pain when police arrived. He said he was on his way back from the Skylark Lounge in Moon Township, where he consumed more than five drinks. 

Officer James Kazmierczak said he was unsure of the extent of Sullivan's injuries following the crash. 

Sullivan was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April. 

Moon Township Police responded to the following recent incidents and made the following recent arrests. Each item is a reflection of police records and does not indicate guilt or a conviction: 

• Daniel Hall, 30, of Monaca, was charged with theft by unlawful taking on March 3. Hall, a former employee of McDonald's on Beaver Grade Road, is charged with stealing $3,000 in cash from a safe at the fast food restaurant. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and held on $10,000 bail. 

• Robert John Slater III, 24, of Pittsburgh was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia on March 1 in connection to a 2011 incident. Police in December 2011 were investigating a false report of a man forcing a victim into a Polo Club apartment at gunpoint, when they discovered marijuana and paraphernalia in Slater's apartment. 

• Nathanial Hipps, 44, of Pittsburgh, was charged with retail theft and giving false identification to law enforcement on March 3.
