Imperial Man Charged With Fleeing from Police

An Imperial man was recently charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police after failing to pull over his all-terrain vehicle during a police pursuit in Moon.

Phillip J. Reynolds, 21, of Imperial, is also charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence, reckless driving and other summary offenses.

On June 20 at 1:25 a.m., police were patrolling Business 376 in Moon when an officer saw Reynolds driving an ATV approaching the Ewing exit. Police said the ATV was speeding and refused to stop when police tried to pull it over on University Drive.

The officer stopped the pursuit for safety reasons after seeing Reynolds, who wasn't wearing a helmet, nearly lose control of the vehicle. Shortly after, police said the ATV was found stopped in the middle of the road with a case of Keystone beer on the roadway next to the vehicle.

Reynolds was handcuffed and admitted to police that he'd been smoking marijuana. Police also spoke to the owner of the quad who said he never gave Reynolds permission to use it.
